ABSTRACT

Security culture is a state that must be developed during mutual relations and actions taken in the organization’s environment. Whether it is created quickly and easily or reluctantly and problematically, it mostly depends on the employees because their psychological, emotional, social, and economic conditions depend on whether they adapt without any problems to organization requirements. The task of the management—that wishes not only to increase work efficiency but also maintain safety standards—is to educate employees with a high level of safety culture and enforce its manifestations among the crew. It is not a simple task and it requires a lot of time and effort from both the management and executive staff. It is not easy to create a security culture, but it is much harder to change the consciousness and subconsciousness of the crew. Therefore, the guidelines included in the Polish PN-N-18001:2004 standard play a useful role and help shape a culture of the occupational health and safety within the company.
