ABSTRACT
First, several forms of record keeping and statistics that have been traditionally used by safety and risk management professionals are described. Second, the currently prescribed method of record-keeping and statistics, as required by the U.S. Department of Labor, is presented. The traditional and current methods are similar, but a distinction is made between them. Finally, some statistical techniques in making comparisons between incident frequencies over time are provided.
