ABSTRACT
Various endocrine diseases present as medical emergencies. These arise due to deficiencies or excess of various hormones vital for homeostasis. Adequate patient awareness and high index of suspicion on part of attending physician are required to improve the outcome of these potentially life-threatening medical conditions. Prompt diagnosis and early institution of therapy is highly rewarding. This chapter deals with commonly encountered endocrine emergencies in endocrine surgery practice.
