ABSTRACT
This chapter covers the characterization of polymeric coatings using spectroscopic techniques. The spectroscopic techniques help in characterizing the surface of the polymeric coatings, functional groups of the newly synthesized material, and compositional information and are also helpful in determining the causes of the failures of the polymeric coatings. Each and every spectroscopic technique analyzes the polymeric coatings from the surface to the microscopic level. Many researchers used highly sensitive spectroscopic techniques for testing the long-term applicability of the polymeric coatings.
