ABSTRACT
This chapter investigates a link-weight modification philosophy for solving network optimization problems. Many network problems which have been analyzed and solved by altering the associated weight with links of the given network have been identified in this chapter. The actual process of link-weight modification is different in different situations; therefore, optimization through link-weight modification is an art. The purpose and process of link-weight modification has been examined to understand the philosophy behind these link-weight modification approaches. It is hoped that researchers may like to expand this idea further and explore the concept of link-weight modification further to apply the idea as a tool for solving the network optimization problems.
