ABSTRACT
1080We began the redevelopment of this chapter with the same open mandate we had from the editors in the past. As consultants, our clients often ask us what the future of parenteral manufacturing will be. We consider this subject almost daily in our consulting efforts. 1 , 2 We retained our earlier perspective on what to include; the subjects we’ve included met two important criteria. First, they must have potential relevance in the next decade and beyond; and second, at least one of us was knowledgeable enough to make a meaningful effort to predict what the future circumstances might be. Undoubtedly, we will be wrong with respect to some portion of the following, but since we have made a rather substantial number of predictions, some of them might be completely accurate. Your challenge as a reader will be to decide which is which, an effort that will be increasingly easier as the future becomes the present.
