ABSTRACT

Bioflavonoids have gained attention in the field of research because of their enormous applications in food sciences. Chief dietary sources of bioflavonoids are composed of fruits and vegetables providing a variety of health benefits to the consumer, as well as promoting the growth of plants, by acting as growth promoters and help in combating oxidative stress. They are being used in the prevention of cancer, gastrointestinal ailments, diabetes, and have notable radical scavenging, antiulcerogenic, hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial activity. Bioflavonoids provide helpful role against cardiovascular diseases by working as a vasorelaxant, antiatherosclerotic, antithrombogenic, cardioprotective, and antineoplastic agent. This chapter summarizes the data of past few decades based on potential source and nutraceutical health benefits of bioflavonoids with latest studies.
