ABSTRACT

The chapter provides an overview of methods for determining the mechanical properties of nanostructures: calculation and experimental methods, methods based on mathematical computer simulation and methods based on their joint application. The features and deficiencies of each method are shown. In many papers of nanostructures mechanical properties study increase the elastic modulus with a decrease in size is tended. However, there are also opposite results. Since the results have an ambiguous and sometimes contradictory character of the dependence of the elastic modulus from the of nanostructures size, investigations in the field of developing a generalized, precise method for determining the mechanical properties of nanostructures of arbitrary geometric shape are relevant.
