ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic has touched each of our lives in some way or another—be it losses—personal, financial, self-realization, and just gratitude to have made it through the past two years in good health. Dermatology—aesthetic dermatology, in particular—is a field that involves a rather close contact with patients. Therefore, at the outset, the priority is to keep both the patient and physician as safe as possible. Patients with suspected symptoms, however mild, must be evaluated first before proceeding with any skin treatment. The uncertainty with regard to how long the pandemic may last, with the emergence of new variants and waves making their presence felt every few months, confirms that we have to remain vigilant and careful. Newer terminologies such as ‘proageing’, ‘immune fitness’, ‘inflammaging’, skin and gut microbiome are all now concepts to introduce a body equilibrium and enhance longevity and quality of life.
