ABSTRACT

The glass fiber-reinforced thermoplastic and thermoset composites have been used for various applications. Depending on the application, the glass fibers are developed by adding different ingredients. The glass fibers are in different forms such as chopped fiber, woven mat fiber, unidirectional fiber, and random mat fiber, and these forms are used to prepare the different polymer matrix composites. These glass fibers and natural or other synthetics fibers reinforced together have made hybrid fibers polymer composites. The glassfiber thermoset polymer composites are prepared by different manufacturing processes such as compression molding, hot press melding, resin transfer molding and vacuum-assisted molding processes and the thermoplastic composites are prepared by plunger and screw type injection machine. Reducing the weight of the total system, the glassfiber polymer composites are used for various structural applications. During the preparation of composites, the various filler materials are mixed together with resin to improve the mechanical, thermal, dynamic mechanical, and chemical properties. According to the customer requirements, simple types of mold are used to prepare the glass fiber composites.
