ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the subject of design and modeling of lightweight polymer composite structures. Among all the composites, polymers matrix-based composites are the lightest and hold various unique properties that are advantageous over its counterparts. Here, the micro-mechanical design of lamina and laminates is discussed followed by the visco-elastic behavior of the lightweight polymer matrix composite structures. Finally, the authors have discussed the design of lightweight polymer composite structures through molecular dynamics technique.
