ABSTRACT

One of the core components of the Production harmonizEd Reconfiguration of Flexible Robots and Machinery (PERFoRM) architecture is an integration platform, which is called the Middleware. All the different tools and production devices that need to communicate with each other can use this Middleware as a broker technology. The use of this Software (SW)/Hardware (HW), i.e. SW/HW component, allows avoiding creating individual interfaces for each specific peer-to-peer connectivity and interoperability. The Middleware is able to be configured to route the messages accordingly and is able to translate different data formats and protocols.
