ABSTRACT

Conductors with high conductivity and large stretchability are desirable components for flexible and wearable electronics such as stretchable light-emitting diode arrays, sensors, actuators, energy harvesting, and storage devices. Significant progresses on stretchable conductors have been achieved in recent years due to the development of novel conductive nanomaterials, anti-stretch nano-micro structures, and advanced fabrication techniques. These advances have provided ever-increasing performance such as higher conductivity and stretchability, lower resistance variation under tensile strain, longer cycle life, and so on. In this chapter, the prominent performances of stretchable conductors reported in very recent years were summarized. The most widely investigated materials and structure designs contributing to such a high performance of the conductors were reviewed. Finally, the main progress on the applications of stretchable conductors was also overviewed.
