ABSTRACT

A paper was written for the 6th International Conference on Managing Pavements on the status of statewide Airport Pavement Management Systems (APMS) in the United States as of 2003. That paper provided a benchmark for future comparisons. In 2011, a follow-up paper was prepared for the 8th International Conference on Managing Pavements. In this paper, the topic is again revisited. The practices of the fifty states were reviewed. PAVER™ pavement management databases were gathered for thirty-four states and for one state the data results from its database were obtained. This paper presents information on the status of each state’s APMS efforts, the software being used, methods to conduct APMS activities, and APMS funding mechanisms. In addition, the pavement condition trends since APMS implementation are presented.
