ABSTRACT

Alternative renewable and sustainable energy has gained worldwide interest due to the high-energy demand and environmental factors. The increasing urbanization, industrialization, population growth, depletion of ozone, and the hazardous effects of the current methods of energy generation from fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas), have contributed significantly to researches into renewable energy. Research has also shown the importance of nanostructure and composite materials in resolving issues surrounding renewable energy. This chapter focuses on nanostructured and nanocomposite materials that are used for renewable 92energy. The chapter presents nanomaterials (NMs) and their applications for renewable energy; which was drawn from the various literatures that are relevant to nanostructure and composites for renewable energy.
