ABSTRACT

The rapid growth of industrialization and urbanization are root for the pollution caused by heavy metals and toxic dyes to the environment. The different conventional methods such as chemical, physical, and biological are used for detection and remediation of environmental contamination, and these treatment techniques are not the efficient and expensive one. Therefore, it is an urgent need to develop a new method for environmental pollution detection and remediation. Recently, the biogenic synthesis of metal nanoparticles such as Fe, Cu, carbon, nZVI, and selenium nanoparticles have been used for the detection and removal of heavy metals and toxic dye degradation from the water. To give new insights, this chapter highlights the current knowledge of biogenic synthesis of metal nanoparticles in environmental applications, which are mainly focused on environmental pollution detection, heavy metal removal, and toxic dyes degradationThe main knowledge gap and future research are highlighted in this chapter.
