ABSTRACT
Manual skills form only a part of the capabilities required of future dentists, but they are a very important component that should be tested. The purpose of this investigation project is to assess the development of this ability and the acquisition of skills by students of the Faculty of Dental Medicine of University of Porto during the pre-graduate training, considering as primary reference the identification of the initial individual status in what concerns motor maturation. A prototype was developed to allow the monitoring of the acquisition of competences in terms of fine motor skills.
