ABSTRACT

The application of nanotechnology in drug delivery and therapy has a significant impact on public health. Nanotherapeutics are beneficial for high solubility, low cytotoxicity, minimum side effects, and controlled and targeted drug delivery. This development will be highly beneficial to improve the treatment of various life-threatening diseases, especially in cancer. Smart nanotherapeutics have elevated the overall welfare and health of cancer patients mainly by decreasing the adverse effects of chemotherapeutic drugs, but progresses in general survival are modest. This chapter describes the emergence of various nanotherapeutics for cancer, prospects of nanotherapeutics for diagnosis and treatment (nanotheranostics), and the design of nanotherapeutics.
