ABSTRACT

Although foliar application of micronutrients is practiced extensively, especially for tree crops, foliar applications of the major nutrients for field grain crops generally have not been effective (10). Therefore, when we reported (3) very significant yield increases of soybeans resulting from foliar application of NPKS solutions during seed-filling it created much interest. Good seed yield increases have been obtained from these foliar applications in several field experiments, but in many of the experiments that have been conducted there were no yield increases and in some experiments there were yield decreases. Obviously, we still have things to learn before foliar fertilization of soybeans during seed-filling can be used as a general field production practice.
