ABSTRACT

The critical part of organizational change is the unglamorous, detail-oriented hard work of engineering. These action plans must be a part of a critical project management plan and master schedule that lays out all the engineering work to be done for the organizational change to embrace palliative care. While the mechanical approach to leading an organizational change, such as the introduction of palliative care, is simple and straightforward to describe, there are organizational situations in which it is an oversimplification. Organizational change does not happen without leadership and lots of it! Authors have not seen success in change when the organization's leadership, at all levels, was unwilling to take responsibility for setting a direction or was lacking the courage and commitment needed to carry out that direction.
