ABSTRACT

Purpose: There is considerable debate among academics and business practitioners about key factors of individual work performance (IWP) of employees. Traditional performance management systems must focus on managing an individual’s performance, which does not only relate to task performance but also examines contextual performance and counterproductive behavior. These are the basic components of IWP to be examined.

Methodology/approach: The preliminary study is based on a two-country online survey, including 144 employees who fulfilled the two criteria; the first criterion: working in service sector, and the second criterion: they work in the companies with more than 10 employees. Respondents were from Slovenia and India.

Findings: The differences in IWP between Slovenia and India exist.

Originality/value: This is the first study to analyze IWP in the two countries.
