ABSTRACT

Supercapacitors are rapidly gaining more research interest in energy storage applications to solve power outage problems. They are good energy storage device that can either replace or complement the use of batteries in a system. This articles reviews recent literature on supercapacitor materials, applications, challenges and future prospects of inorganic-based supercapacitor. Supercapacitors are for existing and new applications in the automotive engineering, railway traction, telecommunication systems, industrial, medical and consumer electronics. The low temperature range and decomposition voltage of the inorganic electrolyte are the constraints facing the inorganic-based supercapacitor.
