ABSTRACT

Considering the engineering background that the cable force of parallel steel strand in stay cables could not be accurately measured due to the internal steel strand is in both discrete and contact state in some practical engineering, it is based on finite element numerical modelling and field testing that the vibration behavior of parallel steel strand during tensioning in construction is studied according to the vibration theory of stay cables in this paper. Firstly, a single steel strand model and an internal steel strand contact model are established so that the influence of the mutual interference of the internal steel strands on the application of frequency method test is analyzed. Then, a two-beam coupling model is established and the influence of the outer sheath of the stay cable on the natural frequency of the inner steel beam is analyzed. Our investigation shows that formula of cable tensile force should be corrected in combination with the measurement results for different contact form and structural characteristics.
