ABSTRACT

In the framework of the European Project ‘ATCZ190 SAFEBRIDGE’, numbers of existing bridges are carefully selected to be studied and modeled with nonlinear finite element method on deterministic and stochastic levels. The selection of bridges is based on statistical data about existing bridges within the part of Czech program region – Czech regions of South Moravia, South Bohemia and Vysočina. As the strategic partners involved in the project are the main national operators for road and railway bridges, they had direct access on data about the full existing bridge stock in the Czech Republic. Based on close cooperation and discussion with them the typical bridges have been selected for advanced analysis. The paper presents the bridge selection process based on the most interesting statistical data about the bridges in the Czech Republic. Within the advanced computational modeling of selected bridges including deterministic computational models, stochastic models and degradation modeling a comparison of ultimate limit state design values of KA-61 girder resistance determined by different safety formats approaches and advanced reliability methods is discussed.
