ABSTRACT

Method of influence lines or their derivatives are recognized as very promising method for beam structure damage detection that because the stiffness of global structural section can be obtained from a single measuring point. However, the characteristics of influence line method faces the disadvantages of single response type and poor data robustness. Based on Dempster-Shafer evidence theory, a novel damage detection method is proposed by fusing the information entropy of deflection and rotation influence line. To verify the effectively of the response fusion method, the indoor experiment of a simply supported steel beam has been applied to verify its feasibility. The results show that the response fusion method is more effective than the single response to detect the damage position under the multi-point damage case, more accurate on diagnosing the damage extent. The proposed method can provide reference ideas for improving damage detection method based on influence line theory.
