ABSTRACT

“J-THIFCOM” is an Ultra-High Performance Fiber Reinforced Cementitious Composite material (UHPFRC) showing thixotropic behavior at fresh state for in-site casting on slopes. “J-THIFCOM” serves as waterproofing and strengthening layer to improve durability and increase structural resistance. The “J-THIFCOM”-Technology can be applied widely from Summer climate of 45°C to Winter climate of -15°C at different construction sites under well trained construction leader and personals. In severe winter climates, the usage of anti-freezing agent, such as calcium-chloride, is common. The usage of such agent is necessary for traffic safety. However, such agent is inducing corrosion of steel structures and reinforcing bars of concrete structures. And, due to freeze-thaw action, corrosion damages are to expand further. There are many seriously damaged bridges and other engineer structures in cold region. For rehabilitation and strengthening of damaged bridge deck, girder, bearing-bed and substructure, the “J-THIFCOM”-Technology shows good adaptation of examples. This report describes some applications of “J-THIFCOM” in severe winter climates in North- and Highland-Japan.
