ABSTRACT

It has been confirmed that the upper surface of reinforced concrete (RC) slabs on road bridges suffer from deterioration, causing corrosion of internal reinforcing bars and leakage of free lime. Overlay methods using ultra high performance fiber reinforced cement-based composites (UHPFRC) have been tried as a way to prevent deterioration of the top surface. In this paper, full-scale experiments involving the casting of an UHPFRC overlay with a focus on various interface treatments are reported. The superiority of interfaces treated by wetting and with an adhesive is confirmed.
