ABSTRACT

The Great Belt Bridge, Europes largest bridge and the worlds third largest bridge measured on the main span of 1624 meter, has a projected lifespan of over 100 years. However, with the many new technological maintenance possibilities, we expect to extend the service life and that the iconic Great Belt Bridge will continue to be in good shape for the next 200 years – for the benefit of the Danish people and the rest of Europe. We have built data models of the assets in order to be able to take decisions on short term about assets and on long term about new projects and the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) that the projects will incur during the lifetime of the assets. The analysis of different data from the sensors on the bridge, the asset data, the traffic data and the various error reports have been analysed by AI. AI has been able to identify new patterns and provide us with new guidelines on being more predictive as far as the assets on the bridge are concerned.
