ABSTRACT

This paper presents an on-going monitoring of the stiffening truss connection links and finger joints in a suspension bridge. Strain gages, tiltmeters, crack gages, accelerometers, and noise meters are used to perform monitoring. Some of the links were determined to have partially frozen pins due to corrosion and will be replaced. A retrofit to reduce finger joint vibration and noise does not seem to be effective based on the measured strains, accelerations, and noise.
