ABSTRACT

Wave-structure-MTLD (Multi Tuned Liquid Damper) couple system motion equation is established, in which the nonlinear properties of random wave action and MTLD’s control action on structure are taking into account. A proposed numerical algorithm for the nonlinear dynamic equation with multi-degree of freedom is used here for solving couple system motion equation. The corresponding computer program is developed in time domain for vibration reduction control and dynamic analysis for wave-structure-MTLD couple system, so that the whole simulation analysis course of motion state of structure and control element under random wave action is realized. The design procedure of TLD used for wave induced vibration reduction control is given out in detail. Then, with a project of sea-crossing bridge tower taken as an example, the optimal parameters of TLD is given, and the vibration reduction effect of TLD under the action of random wave is studied. The results of numerical calculation show that: the dynamic response of bridge tower under wave action can be reduced greatly when it is equipped with TLDs, and the proposed design procedure of TLD is feasible.
