ABSTRACT

Aim of this study is to find out the correlation between S6-cycle corrosion chamber test (specified in Japanese Industrial Standard K5621) and outdoor field exposure tests of weathering steels exposed in major cities of Myanmar, where high corrosion rate is observed in some locations for weathering steels by previous researchers. The exposure test sites were set up at seven major cities in Myanmar. Specimens were conducted up to three years of exposure in proposed outside environments. S-6 cycle chamber test results for weathering steel was adopted from former experiment. Acceleration coefficients for test sites are defined by correlating the chamber test and exposure test results. Moreover, long-term prediction equation is determined by acceleration coefficients based on environmental parameters (temperature, relative humidity and surface chloride contents).
