ABSTRACT

The numerical simulation method for 2D/3D model based on ANSYS is put forward to simulate the diffusion process of chloride ions in concrete structures with dual time-dependency of the diffusion coefficient and boundary condition. The modified apparent diffusion coefficient formulas for the chloride diffusion, as well as corrected analytical expressions of surface chloride ion concentrations that respectively conform to exponential and power-law distributions are introduced. The concentration distributions simulated by ANSYS present good consistency with the experimental data and the analytical solution of the modified model, which indicate the feasibility of simulation of the diffusion process in such a numerical approach and also confirm the correctness of the modified apparent diffusion coefficient formula as well as the analytical formulas for surface chloride ion concentrations that respectively conform to exponential and power-law distributions.
