ABSTRACT

The information in foregoing chapters makes only passing reference to those conditions which are associated with behavioral, psychological, and emotional stress. As research in behavorial toxicology and industrial psychology expands into a more direct application to women and their working conditions, the linkage between physiological and biochemical effects and the currently subjective measures of job dissatisfaction and stress should become clearer. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health now has a Behavioral and Motivational Factors Branch so that there will possibly be more frequent recognition of the effects of stressful conditions and toxic contaminants on the work tolerance of women and men. Women tend to marry men older than themselves despite all the obvious long-term social disadvantages. There is evidence that older paternal age is a factor in sporadic fresh mutational cases of autosomal dominant and X-linked recessive disorders.
