ABSTRACT

Effect of temperature on strain measurement in weakly reflective Fiber Bragg Gratings (FBGs)using Time-Division Multiplexing(TDM) is analyzed first. The sensing mechanism of the FBG-TDM is discussed, and strain measurements affected by different kinds of temperature are simulated. Using vibrating liquid column, periodic strain signals are detected in the experiment. The simulated and experimental results show that temperature can distort the strain signal, and the strain signal can be recovered when the temperature influence is reduced. So people should pay more attention to the effect of temperature on strain measurement and try to reduce it.
