ABSTRACT

AS A LANGUAGE TEACHER, my goal is always to focus on helping my students adapt what they learn from the class to utilize the skills in real-life situations. While I was given a teaching opportunity to cooperate with Professor Lee Sheldon from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), I was very excited about designing a unique curriculum for fellow students. Not only I was able to gain my teaching experience with college students, but I also could learn a different approach to teach Mandarin Chinese. In order to experiment with different teaching methods in a multiplayer classroom, we decided to find beginning learners in Mandarin Chinese and also invited some native speakers who functioned as mission facilitators in our efforts to help polish their communication skills.
