ABSTRACT

This paper analyzed the temporal and spatial characteristics of grassland fires in Inner Mongolia from 2000 to 2016. It provides scientific basis for fire risk zoning and emergency management of Inner Mongolia grassland. The results show that Inner Mongolia grassland fires has regular distribution in time and space. During the 17 years from 2000 to 2016, Inner Mongolia grassland fires area showed a fluctuating and declining trend as a whole with time. The fire area in spring accounted for 67.55% of the total fire area. The fire area in autumn is only next to that in spring. Although the temperature is higher in summer, but the combustibles are in a strong growth period, and the moisture content of combustibles is high. In December, January and February, Inner Mongolia grassland area is covered with snow, and grassland fire is hardly happened in snow-covered area. Inner Mongolia grassland fires area is mainly distributed in the eastern and central Inner Mongolia grassland area. The total burning area of grassland in Hulun Buir, Xilin Gol League and Hinggan league accounted for 83.9% of the total burning area.
