ABSTRACT

A system was developed for 3-D dynamic simulation and visualization of diversion flood routing in the Linan flood storage polder. First, C# was used to program diversion flood routing system for the Linan flood storage polder in the Visual Studio platform, which is based on the ArcGIS engine. A given water level inundation programming thought were proposed to simulate diversion flood routing, considering the specificity of the flood storage polder’s diversion flood. Second, the inundated simulation results were compared to numerical simulation results in similar studies. These results show that this system can not only reasonably simulate diversion flood routing in the Linan flood storage polder, but also dynamically and visually demonstrate the inundation process and self-defined flood elements, such as water level, inundated range and water volume at any given diversion flood time. Finally, the dynamic flood risk assessment can be realized by coupling these dynamic flood elements with the socio-economic and resource distribution of the flood storage polder. This research shows that the thought of programming is more suitable for small- and medium-sized flood storage polders, which provides a scientific basis for the flood control operation and risk management.
