ABSTRACT
This article presents some preliminary results of the experiences of Mexico City residents during the two earthquakes that hit the city in 2017. This cross-sectional study considered a sample size of N = 2,400. Most (76.3%) of the participants were at home during the earthquake on September 7, but the opposite was observed during the September 19 earthquake. For the earthquake on September 7, 45.3% of the participants of the study perceived the quake as ‘very strong’, and 34.1% of participants has the same perception during the earthquake on September 19. A strong association was found with sex, age, education level and the occupation of the participants and their worries about their house/building collapsing. The article gives an account of the ongoing research project.
