ABSTRACT

Risk assessment of the economic impacts of climate change in the future is a key topic ininternational studies. Based on earlier research results on the nonlinear relationship between temperature and the economy in 31 provinces (historical period, 1978 to 2013), this study investigated the risk identification of the relationship between temperature and the economy in different provinces in China in the historical period and the future impacts of global warming on the economic development of different provinces. Based on the results of the risk identification, this article describes aninitial assessment of the impact of temperature rises on economic growth rate under the RCP8.5 scenario, and sheds new light onthe regional differences in the future. Lastly, the article discusses the shortcomings of analysis method used. The results of risk identification and assessment lay a certain foundation for further exploring the future impacts of climate change on the economy in China.
