ABSTRACT
In the complex array of MHC products expressed on cell surfaces, the paramount role of polypeptide structures has long been recognized. Chris Parish, however, reminds us of a series of observations suggesting the existence of carbohydrate histocompatibility antigens, summarizing evidence for association of carbohydrate structures with both class I and class II specificities.
