ABSTRACT
The classic debate of allelic exclusion vs. inclusion is revived by Ben Wolf. Allelic inclusion runs counter to the basic dogma of clonal selection theory, and the evidence for it seems to be a persistent thorn in the side of that most fundamental tenet of cellular immunology. Observations from classical studies in rabbits are here reviewed, together with recent mouse studies that use molecular probes.
