ABSTRACT

Recent observations in the molecular biology of H-2 seem to rule out the possibility that the I-J locus encodes a conventional Ia molecule. How, then, do we account for the observed I-J polymorphisms which map within the I region? In his studies of suppressor factor immunoregulatory function, Patrick Flood here outlines an even more perplexing problem: not only are his inducer suppressor factors linked to I-J polymorphisms, but they carry IgH-V linked polymorphic determinants mapped to chromosome 12 which then behave in elegant F1 mapping experiments as if I-J and IgH-V are genetically linked!
