The Smell of H-2

In 1976, Yamazaki, Boyse, Thomas, and co-workers made the intriguing discovery that mice can smell MHC differences. Most remarkably, the smell of the urine of an F₁ mouse can be distinguished from the smell of a mixture of urines of the two parental strains.
