ABSTRACT

Litchi berries are regarded as one of the important fruits with several health benefits including in an aspect of cosmetics. Pharmacological activities of these superfruits are delivered on the basis of their active constituents especially those of phenolic compounds. In this chapter, phytochemically active phenolics are summarized exclusively those contributing on cutaneous positive effects against skin dryness, skin wrinkle, and skin dullness that are the signs of aging of skin. Biological activities in terms of in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo are addressed together with the active compounds and categorized by pericarp, pulp, and seed of litchi berries. In addition, those of commercially available litchi berry extracts are enclosed. These information will be therefore appointed as an efficient choice for applications of litchi berries in certain industrial products that are cosmetics, which flow in the mainstream of consumers’ awareness amidst naturally derived products and feasible for the industrial applications in the future.
