ABSTRACT

In the scope of the Research Center for Architecture, Urbanism and Design at the Lisbon school of Architecture (CIAUD), was initiated a research plan regarding the potential of the use textile fabrics in the architecture. This approach is a window of opportunity not only economically, but above all, finding material diversity and textures. This paper presents a methodological proposal for the projects to be developed in CIAUD (Center for Architecture, Urbanism and Design Research at the Lisbon school of Architecture), within the Architectural Engineering Research Group - GIArE. This research develops a technology for the insertion of a textile convector into the buildings, which allows to inject and removed heat air in the interior space. The use of ‘textile canvas’ in buildings has been used since ancient times, but has been limited, to the field of shading the building’s exterior envelope, however, we can expand its application in architecture by exploring the possibilities in the field of climatization.
