ABSTRACT

Transcatheter management of cardiac patients is gaining widespread popularity. Three-dimensional (3D) echocardiography, especially real-time 3D transesophageal echocardiography, in the catheterization or hybrid laboratory is indispensable for certain procedures such as edge-to-edge closure of mitral regurgitation and closure of paravalvular leaks. Future developments with other modalities, such as fusion imaging with 3D echocardiography, would further enhance the success of transcatheter procedures.
