ABSTRACT

Because of its unique geometry, right ventricle (RV) evaluation by two-dimensional methods is difficult and requires including multiple factors such as RV fractional area change and tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion. Three-dimensional echocardiography is not only theoretically ideal but also announced as a measure of RV volume and function in the new American Society of Echocardiography guideline. Continued technological improvement to easily determine RV volume and function in a variety of pathological conditions is still desired to improve clinical outcomes.
