ABSTRACT

Echocardiography has played a pivotal role in the diagnosis of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and in the evaluation of the effect of therapy in patients with obstructive disease. The abnormalities in cardiac geometry proper of this cardiac abnormality make it suitable to be studied with a three-dimensional imaging technique not depending on geometrical assumptions. Three-dimensional echocardiography is therefore a powerful tool to evaluate these patients in the clinical setting.
