ABSTRACT

This chapter presents system development and discusses functionalities of the buttons of the interface. The principal component analysis and linear discriminant analysis are two subspace-learning methods that are used for palmprint recognition. In these methods two-dimensional image data is converted into a one-dimensional vector, which is known as the “image-as-vector.” The coding methods have been found to be more accurate for recognition of an individual in terms of computing performance measures and matching speed in comparison to the other methods mentioned. A biometric system is a pattern recognition system that is used to match the features of sample images with the template images stored in a centralized database. Histogram and histogram equalization are techniques that modify the image by changing its intensity to the desired shape. Histogram technology maps the pixel intensity value of the input image to the output image using nonlinear and nonmonotonic transfer functions.
