ABSTRACT

Welding is an essential process in the manufacturing of components, assemblies, or complete machines across the engineering spectrum. Tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding is a well-known and the most frequently used method of welding processes in ships, bridges, and welding of stainless steels. The arc weld is an extremely complex process that occurs at high temperatures and causes permanent internal stress in the target material. TIG weld is one of the most critical production operations in a wide range of application areas requiring high precision such as railway, vessels, bridges, construction, automotive, aircraft, and nuclear reactors. The change in the welding parameters also affects the dimensions of the section geometry of the weld seam. However, the maximum height of the bottom height depends on all parameters. The developed mathematical models are useful to choose the correct process parameters in order to obtain the desired weld seam quality or to estimate the weld seam quality for the given process parameters.
